Our friends at the Texas Bar Journal want to share your creative writing. The Texas Bar Journal Short Story Contest has returned!

The Journal staff seeks attorney-authored short stories, running 2000 words or less, by March 3, 2014. For official rules and additional contest information click here.

The decision to offer the contest, last run in 2012, was based on reader demand. “We have had many people write and call to find out if the Texas Bar Journal would be running the short story contest this year,” said Managing Editor Patricia McConnico. Links to the published entries of the last four finalists can be found here.

So why do fiction and lawyers go together so well? McConnico replies, “The best fiction is often based on real life, and who better to tell a great story than an attorney who deals with all kinds of people and situations. We are looking forward to getting some good prose—and the timing is just right. The winning entries will be published in the June issue, perfect for summer reading.”

TexasBarBooks wishes good luck to all of the budding wordsmiths out there!
