In the last fourteen months, TexasBarBooks has printed three books that achieved Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification. FSC-certified printing supports forest sustainability and environmentally friendly growing, harvesting, processing, and printing practices, running the gamut from ensuring protection for native species and respect for indigenous peoples to using vegetable-based inks and minimizing waste at the printer. Our three FSC-certified books to date are Rough Road to Justice: The Journey of Women Lawyers in Texas, published in September 2008; Texas Criminal Pattern Jury Charges—Intoxication and Controlled Substances, published last month; and Essentials of Texas Water Resources, published this month.
Also, instead of providing the electronic version of Texas Criminal Pattern Jury Charges—Intoxication and Controlled Substances on CD-ROM, TexasBarBooks has made the electronic version available by download for every purchaser. This means fewer materials are consumed during production, no outdated CDs will be sent to landfills when the book’s next edition is released, production and packaging savings are passed on to our customers, and customers will always know where to access the electronic version if they need to reinstall it.
