The Supreme Court of Texas is considering proposed amendments to the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct. Approval of Proposed Amendments to the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct, No. 09-9175 (Tex. Oct. 20, 2009).

The proposed amendments are extremely broad in scope. I hope that all lawyers will spend the time necessary to become familiar with them so that if the amendments are approved we will not see the same increase in disciplinary sanctions that we saw after the 1990 rule changes.
